Podcast 32: Chris Thurling, Executive Chairman, Armadillo

Chris Thurling talks about the importance of vulnerability and failure as a key part of the process of creativity and innovation. As the Executive Chairman of a creative marketing agency and the Chair of Bristol Media, you might expect Chris to be naturally creative but he explains creativity as being pertinent to every business and why we need to engage both head and heart in decision making.

Like many CEOs I’ve spoken with, Chris believes that uncertainty is ever present and something we need to become used to and as such, he doesn’t seem phased by it. Perhaps his ability to stay in the mess of creativity makes it easier to embrace uncertainty? Chris explains that the management buy-out earlier this year was one of the easiest decisions to make because he trusted and respected his fellow business partners. Perhaps that’s the key to embracing uncertainty? What’s your experience?
